Advarra expands study collaboration with site-centered technology to improve startup process
Advarra, known for regulatory reviews and clinical research technology, has expanded its Study Collaboration solution to enhance coordination between clinical trial stakeholders.
The update introduces guided site journeys, a new site-facing milestone tracker designed to help research sites manage their study startup responsibilities alongside sponsors and CROs. This provides a real-time, unified view of study activation progress intended to improve operational efficiency and reduce delays.
The expansion follows the recent integration of Study Collaboration with Advarra’s electronic institutional review board system, Center for IRB Intelligence (CIRBI), which added milestone tracking for sponsors and CROs. The guided site journeys tracker was developed with input from Advarra’s network of site users, reflecting feedback gathered during design and testing phases.
Nicholas Focil, CEO of FOMAT Medical Research, said: “It is encouraging to see a company incorporate end-user site feedback to develop purpose-driven solutions.”
Ashley Davidson, vice president and product lead of sponsor tech strategy at Advarra, said: “Study startup is often hindered by fragmented systems and poor communication, requiring sponsors, CROs, and sites to manage multiple emails, spreadsheets, and status calls. Advarra’s latest release addresses this with the only site-facing milestone tracker aligned with sponsor and CRO views. The system offers real-time visibility into study progress and allows sites flexibility to complete tasks in an order suited to their internal processes, facilitating faster and more collaborative study advancement.”
Accessible through single sign-on, Study Collaboration enables site staff to complete tasks that automatically update the milestone tracker. This shared system provides sponsors, CROs, and sites with transparency and alignment across study teams.
Nancy Cleverley, senior vice president of operations management at AMR Clinical, added: “Study startup has often been opaque, but Advarra’s Study Collaboration solution now gives all study team members the same view of clinical trial activation. This transparency eases collaboration, clarifies timelines, and shifts focus toward activating studies and enrolling patients.”
