Brainomix to present five ILD studies on quantitative CT at ERS Congress

Brainomix will present five studies examining quantitative CT biomarkers in interstitial lung disease at the European Respiratory Society Congress 2026.

Brainomix is set to present five studies examining the use of quantitative computed tomography (CT) in interstitial lung disease (ILD) at the European Respiratory Society (ERS) Congress 2026 in Barcelona next month.

The studies will examine the potential of quantitative CT biomarkers to assess treatment response, identify disease progression, evaluate mortality risk and characterise pulmonary hypertension in patients with fibrotic lung disease.

The presentations will include analyses using Brainomix e-Lung, an AI-powered image analysis tool that automatically quantifies and visualises radiographic features in lung CT scans. Brainomix says the technology is being investigated as a way of providing objective measurements from CT imaging alongside established clinical measures.

Studies cover treatment response and disease progression

One presentation will examine CT changes following treatment with taladegib in a Phase 2a study. The post-hoc analysis will assess changes in lung volume and markers of ILD using Brainomix e-Lung.

Taladegib is an investigational treatment being developed by Endeavor BioMedicines for fibrotic lung diseases, including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. The ERS presentation will therefore provide an imaging-based analysis of data from a clinical drug development programme.

A second study will investigate whether early changes in quantitative CT biomarkers are associated with subsequent decline in forced vital capacity (FVC) in patients with progressive pulmonary fibrosis. The analysis uses data from the INBUILD study.

Brainomix has previously reported work using quantitative CT measures in the INBUILD dataset, including analyses of changes in interstitial lung disease extent in patients receiving nintedanib or placebo.

Quantitative CT will also be assessed for risk prediction

A further presentation will assess quantitative CT risk thresholds in fibrotic ILD, with the aim of validating measures generated by e-Lung.

Another study will examine the relationship between telomere shortening, quantitative CT reticulovascular burden and mortality in fibrotic ILD.

The fifth presentation will assess quantitative CT biomarkers in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), comparing patients with and without pulmonary hypertension.

The five abstracts will be presented across two sessions at ERS Congress, with three scheduled for September 6 and two for September 8.

The research builds on a growing body of published work examining quantitative CT as a tool for assessing fibrotic lung disease. Brainomix’s clinical evidence programme includes studies investigating associations between its e-Lung biomarkers and outcomes including mortality and FVC decline, as well as research into earlier identification of progressive pulmonary fibrosis.

Brainomix said the studies collectively examine how quantitative imaging could complement existing clinical assessments across the ILD disease pathway.

Prof Peter George, consultant pulmonologist at the Royal Brompton Hospital and senior medical director at Brainomix, said: “These five studies build on Brainomix’s growing legacy of clinical evidence in quantitative imaging for fibrotic lung disease, further demonstrating the potential of quantitative CT to deliver objective insights across the Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) patient journey.”

He added: “From assessing treatment response and detecting early disease progression to stratifying the risk of mortality and identifying patients at risk of pulmonary hypertension, these findings reinforce the potential of imaging biomarkers to complement clinical measures and support earlier, more precise and personalized approaches to ILD.”

The ERS Congress 2026 will take place in Barcelona from September 5–9, with the five Brainomix studies presented as poster abstracts during the meeting.
