Countable Labs raises $26m to expand Countable PCR platform
Countable Labs has raised $26 million in an oversubscribed financing round to support development of new testing products based on its Countable PCR technology and accelerate global commercial expansion.
The round was led by ARCH Venture Partners with participation from F-Prime Capital and Primer Ventures. The funding will be used to develop application-specific products built on the company’s emerging 10-colour platform and expand commercial operations as demand grows for genomic testing technologies.
Countable Labs commercialised its Countable PCR platform in 2025 and is currently shipping its Countable 4 instrument. The company says the technology provides single-molecule quantification with greater sensitivity and precision than digital PCR while eliminating the need for Poisson correction and standard curves.
The new funding will support development of products targeting applications including cell and gene therapy, minimal residual disease testing, biomarker validation and vaccine quality control.
PCR remains one of the most widely used molecular biology technologies, underpinning applications across research, diagnostics and manufacturing. Digital PCR has improved the ability to quantify rare genetic events, but laboratories continue to seek solutions offering greater sensitivity, higher throughput and easier workflows.
Countable Labs believes its technology can address these challenges through a platform designed to detect rare molecular events while supporting multiplex testing and broad dynamic range measurements.
Giovanna Prout, chief executive officer at Countable Labs, said: “2026 is a critical year for Countable Labs’ momentum. This financing gives us the resources to ensure every laboratory that could benefit from a more sensitive genomics measurement solution finds Countable PCR.”
The company said early studies using clinical samples have demonstrated the platform’s robustness, supporting plans to develop products for laboratories working in areas including cell and gene therapy manufacturing and minimal residual disease testing.
As part of its expansion strategy, Countable Labs has appointed Christopher Citraro as vice president of global sales. Citraro previously held commercial leadership and sales roles at 10x Genomics, Agena Biosciences, Life Technologies/Thermo Fisher Scientific and MP Biomedicals.
The company expects the financing to support broader adoption of Countable PCR as it develops new products based on its planned 10-colour technology platform.
Corey Ritter, partner at ARCH Venture Partners, said: “Countable Labs has completely reimagined PCR, creating a highly accurate, user-friendly solution ideal for distributed use across research, translational research, and industrial testing.”
Investors believe the technology could have applications across a range of markets, including oncology testing, cell and gene therapy manufacturing and pathogen detection.
Robert Weisskoff, senior partner at F-Prime Capital, said: “From minimal residual disease testing to cell and gene therapy manufacturing to pathogen tracking, Countable PCR has the power and robustness to overtake many segments where digital PCR and next-generation sequencing currently dominate.”
While the technology will need to demonstrate performance across a growing range of real-world applications, the financing provides Countable Labs with resources to expand product development and establish a broader commercial presence in the global genomics market
