PharmaForceIQ acquires Aktana to expand AI-driven pharma engagement platform

PharmaForceIQ has acquired Aktana, bringing together a digital commercial orchestration platform with an AI-driven field next-best-action system to strengthen cross-functional engagement for pharmaceutical companies.

The acquisition combines PharmaForceIQ’s modular, machine-learning-enabled platform with Aktana’s AI core, which is designed to support predictive field engagement and executional alignment across commercial teams. The combined platform is positioned as an integrated customer engagement system covering brand strategy, field execution and performance measurement.

The deal significantly expands PharmaForceIQ’s footprint in the US and supports broader deployment across LATAM, APAC and EMEA. Aktana’s field engagement capabilities will add further predictive insights intended to help field teams prioritise actions and improve effectiveness.

Aktana’s next-best-action system is underpinned by its Knowledge Nexus dataset, which includes real-world insights drawn from more than 100 million field suggestions and over 5,000 executed tactics across more than a decade of commercial orchestration experience. According to the companies, the platform has demonstrated performance improvements across multiple commercial metrics.

Hemal Somaiya, chief executive and strategy officer of PharmaForceIQ, said: “We’re thrilled to add these new capabilities to deepen our orchestration engine, making PharmaForceIQ the industry’s only end-to-end go-to-market customer engagement platform. We will scale our work even more quickly across clients and other global pharma companies, including making field teams even smarter and more effective alongside our existing features that improve marketing performance.”

PharmaForceIQ said the integration will support optichannel engagement strategies across both field and digital interactions, with the aim of improving efficiency across commercial functions and strengthening alignment between brand and execution teams.

Derek Choy, head of product at PharmaForceIQ and former co-founder and chief product officer of Aktana, said: “I am excited to bring our pioneering field orchestration platform to PharmaForceIQ. This move will take our product to the next level, enabling best-in-class orchestration across both field and digital. Our unified platform helps teams understand their customers even more deeply, enabling them to predict, orchestrate, and measure personalized journeys across the right field, digital, and P2P channels.”

Aktana has made a number of platform enhancements over the past two years, including AI-enabled communications planning, automated tactic optimisation and real-time strategic visibility to support healthcare professional journey design and execution. These capabilities will now be supported within PharmaForceIQ’s broader commercial platform.

Canaccord Genuity acted as sole financial advisor on the transaction.
