Wiley launches online platform for spectral data and compound identification
Wiley has launched a browser-based analytical research platform combining spectral reference data, compound identification tools and analytical dataset management.
Wiley Analytical Lab brings together three existing products: SpectraBase, KnowItAll AnyWare and Wiley Data Hub, allowing researchers to search reference spectra, identify unknown compounds and manage, validate, publish and share experimental datasets.
The software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform is designed to give research teams access to analytical tools through a single online environment, without relying on separate systems or locally installed software.
Platform combines spectral search and compound identification
Wiley Analytical Lab provides access to millions of reference spectra through SpectraBase, which researchers can use to search for information about chemical compounds.
KnowItAll AnyWare allows users to upload experimental spectra and identify unknown compounds, while Wiley Data Hub supports the management, validation and publication of analytical datasets.
Bringing the three capabilities together is intended to connect different stages of analytical research, from investigating an unknown sample to managing and sharing the resulting data.
Spectral analysis is used across pharmaceutical research, chemistry and other scientific disciplines to help identify and characterise compounds. Access to reliable reference spectra can support researchers interpreting experimental results and investigating unknown substances.
Wiley said the platform is designed to work across different instruments, file formats, locations and research teams, providing a vendor-neutral environment for analytical workflows.
Browser-based access extends existing software capabilities
The launch builds on Wiley’s existing KnowItAll desktop software and its spectroscopy application programming interface (API) portfolio.
By moving the combined capabilities into a browser-based SaaS environment, Wiley aims to make its spectral data and analytical tools accessible across institutions and research organisations.
Armughan Rafat, Wiley senior vice president and chief AI and data analytics officer, said: “Wiley Analytical Lab represents an important step in how we turn trusted scientific data into intelligence researchers can use directly in their work.”
He added: “Researchers need more than just access to information; they need modern, connected tools that help them move from an unknown sample to a confident answer and from experimental data to published, reusable science.”
The company said the platform also provides a foundation for further product development and potential applications involving data analytics and artificial intelligence.
Wiley targets universities and corporate research teams
Wiley Analytical Lab will initially be available through KnowItAll Campus-Wide Solutions for universities and KnowItAll Complete Multi-User Licensing for corporate and government organisations.
The launch expands Wiley’s digital research offering beyond scientific content and reference databases into analytical software and data management.
By combining spectral search, compound identification and dataset management, the platform aims to support researchers working across multiple stages of laboratory analysis.
