EMBARC announces intention to collaborate with Insmed on landmark interventional study in bronchiectasis

EMBARC has announced its intention to collaborate with Insmed on a landmark interventional study evaluating the disease-modifying potential of brensocatib in patients with bronchiectasis.

The proposed study aims to move beyond symptom control and instead target the inflammatory mechanisms believed to drive disease progression in bronchiectasis.

Brensocatib is an oral, reversible DPP1 inhibitor designed to reduce activation of neutrophil serine proteases, with the goal of limiting inflammatory lung damage and reducing exacerbation rates.

Insmed has previously reported encouraging late-stage data showing reductions in pulmonary exacerbations and signals consistent with improved disease control over time.

EMBARC said the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to improving outcomes for patients with bronchiectasis, a chronic respiratory condition characterised by airway dilation, recurrent infection and persistent inflammation.

“This proposed collaboration with Insmed marks an important step in our collective effort to move beyond symptom control and towards disease modification in bronchiectasis,” an EMBARC spokesperson said.

The study is expected to assess clinical endpoints including exacerbation frequency, lung function and inflammatory biomarkers.

Further details on design, timelines and participating sites are expected once the collaboration framework is finalised.
