Linus Health to showcase AI tools for brain health detection and trial recruitment at AAIC 2025

Linus Health will present new findings on its AI-driven cognitive assessment tools at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC) 2025, being held in Toronto and virtually from July 27 to 31. The company is expected to share two oral presentations and eight posters focused on early detection of dementia, personalized brain health recommendations, and digital solutions for trial recruitment.

Research topics include the use of machine learning to identify cognitive impairment and predict amyloid-beta PET status, as well as the integration of stylus- and voice-derived features with blood biomarkers to enhance detection accuracy. Several posters explore the application of semi-supervised clustering to stratify patient populations and assess individualized brain health recommendations based on personal values and preferences.

Among the key sessions:

  • AI for trial recruitment: Linus Health director of cognitive science, Ali Jannati, will present a machine learning approach using the company’s Digital Clock and Recall tool to pre-screen potential Alzheimer’s trial participants by detecting cognitive impairment and amyloid status concurrently.

  • Multi-modal AI models: Research posters will assess how combined digital metrics — including speech and motor data — can be used alongside biomarkers to improve diagnostic prediction and patient stratification.

  • Personalization at scale: One study explores how language models might tailor brain health interventions based on an individual’s goals, habits, and lifestyle choices.

  • Clinical validation: Neuropsychology researcher and Linus Health scientific advisor David Libon, will share results from three studies validating digital trail-making tasks against traditional tests. The work also explores how digital metrics can distinguish between motor and cognitive impairments.

“For decades, we have recognized that examining the process of how someone performs a cognitive test is just as important as whether they get the answers right,” said Libon. “Our research shows how digital tools can quantify these nuances and bring a more neuropsychologically grounded approach to brain health assessment, and, importantly, one that scales from clinical trials to primary care.”

CEO and co-founder David Bates, said the company’s ongoing research supports both clinical trial recruitment and broader patient access. “By combining validated digital tools with AI, we are enabling earlier and more accurate detection of mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s disease, and related dementias,” he said. “At the same time, we are expanding access to proactive brain health support through at-home solutions that empower individuals to engage in their cognitive health journey.”

New enhancements to Linus Health’s life sciences research platform, including support for remote use by patients and trial participants, will also be previewed at the conference.
