Autolomous and Cellular Origins integrate platforms for cell therapy manufacturing

Autolomous and Cellular Origins have integrated their platforms to create a connected digital and automated manufacturing approach for cell therapies.

The collaboration combines Cellular Origins’ Constellation automated cell therapy manufacturing platform with Autolomous’ autoloMATE digital integration platform to support greater standardisation, traceability and control across cell therapy production.

Cell therapy manufacturing remains a significant challenge for developers seeking to move products from research settings into commercial production, with complex processes, limited automation and fragmented data systems creating barriers to scale.

Cellular Origins’ Constellation platform combines mobile robotics, bioprocessing technologies and sterile fluid transfer to automate elements of cell therapy manufacturing. The modular system is designed to allow manufacturers to increase production capacity while maintaining consistent processes.

Autolomous’ autoloMATE platform enables data exchange between software systems, laboratory equipment and robotic platforms across manufacturing workflows and supply chains.

The companies said the combined solution aims to address fragmented processes and limited visibility across manufacturing operations by enabling connected data flows without requiring developers to replace existing systems.

Initial integrations have already been completed at the Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult Digital and Automation Testbeds through an Innovate UK-funded project.

Alexander Seyf, chief executive officer of Autolomous, said: “Scientific ambition has never been the bottleneck in bringing innovative cell therapy to patients, but the delivery infrastructure has brought many challenges.”

He added: “Together with Cellular Origins, we enable fast and efficient scaling from research through to patient administration, ensuring standardisation, automation and digitisation across the entire process.”

Edwin Stone, chief executive officer of Cellular Origins, said: “Scaling cell therapy manufacturing is not just a question of employing automation; it requires a manufacturing system that can evolve with demand.”

The companies said the collaboration demonstrates how automated manufacturing platforms and digital infrastructure can work together to support the development of scalable cell therapy production.
