Causaly has partnered with academic publisher Sage to give its AI agents access to the full text of articles from more than 400 Sage and Mary Ann Liebert journals covering life sciences research.

The integration allows Causaly’s AI agents to analyse full-text scientific literature, including methods, results tables and supporting data, and surface relevant evidence within the Causaly research platform.

The partnership is intended to help researchers assess scientific literature within existing research workflows, including for drug discovery and development.

Causaly said the integration gives researchers access to a broader range of information when evaluating the relevance and quality of scientific papers, including methodological context and statistical results that may not be available from abstracts alone.

AI platform adds access to full-text research

The partnership enables Causaly’s AI agents to draw on the full text of articles published across more than 400 journals.

Researchers can use the platform to identify relevant evidence and examine information contained within the full paper, including research methods, results and supporting data.

The companies said this could help scientists make more informed decisions about which papers are most relevant to their research questions.

The integration is particularly relevant to life sciences researchers who may need to review large volumes of scientific literature when investigating potential drug targets, understanding disease biology or evaluating evidence during drug discovery and development.

For researchers who already have institutional access to Sage journals, Causaly provides a link from its extracted evidence view to the full article on Sage’s platform.

For customers without a Sage subscription, the platform provides an analysis based on a snapshot of the full-text article, with an option to purchase access to the article through Sage.

Partnership aims to reduce wasted literature spend

The companies said the integration could also help researchers avoid purchasing scientific papers that ultimately prove irrelevant to their research.

Causaly’s AI-powered analysis is carried out before users are directed to access the full article through an existing subscription or purchase it from Sage.

This means researchers can assess the potential relevance of a paper before deciding whether to access it in full through their institutional licence or buy individual access.

As life sciences researchers face increasingly large volumes of published literature, AI platforms are being developed to help identify relevant evidence and extract information from scientific papers more efficiently.

For Causaly, the Sage integration expands the scientific literature available to its AI agents and adds full-text content from a major academic publisher to its research platform.

Sage customers can access links to the full articles through Causaly, while users without existing access can use the platform’s analysis to assess relevance before purchasing individual articles.
