Envoy expands emergency notifications platform to bolster safety and compliance for pharma and biotech workplaces
Envoy, a leading provider of workplace management technology, has introduced enhanced capabilities for its Emergency Notifications platform, designed to elevate safety, compliance, and operational resilience across highly regulated environments—including pharmaceutical and biotech facilities.
The update comes amid a surge in natural disasters and safety risks, with 2025 projected to be the most active US tornado season in over a decade. Many organizations still rely on fragmented, manual emergency protocols that leave critical gaps in alerting, response coordination, and compliance reporting. Envoy’s platform addresses these challenges by unifying real-time notifications, presence visibility, and audit-ready logs across multi-site operations.
“Emergency response strategies are a necessity, not a luxury,” said Cormac Twomey, CTO of Envoy. “With these enhancements, companies can act faster, stay compliant, and protect their people with confidence—before, during, and after a crisis.”
Tailored for regulated pharma environments
Envoy’s system is already in use across pharmaceutical and biotech organizations, including Pfizer, Roche, Moderna, Biogen, Athenahealth, Allscripts, and AMAG Pharmaceuticals, spanning R&D labs, GMP-controlled manufacturing facilities, and corporate offices. Several deployments now incorporate Emergency Notifications to centralize safety communications for both staff and visitors.
For regulated environments, Envoy supports compliance with FDA, EMA, and MHRA expectations for emergency planning under 21 CFR Part 11 and EU Annex 11, alongside GMP, OSHA, GDPR, and other standards. Key features include:
-
Audit-ready logging of all alerts, responses, and access activity for regulatory inspections or CAPA reports.
-
Customizable sign-in flows capturing GMP declarations, PPE confirmations, or training attestations before granting entry.
-
Integration with access control systems to maintain personnel traceability in cleanrooms and validated workflows.
Driving adoption across pharma supply chain and clinical settings
Envoy is also seeing uptake at clinical research organizations, trial sites, and academic centers, where strict visitor vetting, IRB compliance, and safety reporting are essential. These deployments use Envoy to streamline investigator and vendor check-ins, track participant safety, and enable rapid, targeted communications during adverse events.
New features, including two-way safety check-ins, command center dashboards, and digital signage takeovers for evacuation routes, provide an added layer of protection and readiness for companies operating in complex, multi-site environments.
