Qureight appoints Steven Bishop as Chief Medical Officer
Qureight has appointed Steven Bishop as chief medical officer, marking a senior leadership transition as the Cambridge-based techbio company continues to expand delivery of clinical studies using imaging biomarkers and data-driven platforms.
Bishop moves into the role from his previous position as chief data officer, a change that reflects Qureight’s evolving organisational structure as the business grows its commercial and operational footprint in global clinical trials. As chief medical officer, he will lead the company’s clinical operations team, which is responsible for delivering clinical studies for pharmaceutical and biotechnology customers.
Qureight applies artificial intelligence to CT imaging and clinical data to support trials in lung and heart disease. The company’s platform is used to generate imaging biomarkers and manage complex clinical datasets across multicentre studies.
In his new role, Bishop will oversee clinical strategy and product development, with responsibility for ensuring Qureight’s services continue to meet regulatory and sponsor requirements. He will also lead quality assurance and regulatory affairs and work closely with the business development team as the company expands its customer base.
Muhunthan Thillai, co-founder and chief executive officer of Qureight, said the appointment reflects both the company’s progress and Bishop’s contribution since joining the business. He said: “Steven has proven himself to be an invaluable member of the Qureight leadership team since he joined 18 months ago. His new role as CMO is reflective both of the progress of the company, and of his significant contributions to our success.”
Thillai added that Qureight has invested heavily in building the internal capability needed to run global studies. He said: “Our team now has the infrastructure, operational processes, capability and compliance to lead global clinical studies. I look forward to working with him in his new role to grow and develop Qureight further to become an imaging world leader for clinical trials.”
Bishop has more than 20 years of experience across healthcare, data science and clinical technology development. During his time as chief data officer at Qureight, he was responsible for the quality and governance of data used to train the company’s AI and imaging biomarker models. He also played a key role in building and maintaining Qureight’s network of data relationships, including collaborations with NHS trusts, hospital groups, contract research organisations and industry partners.
Before joining Qureight, Bishop held senior roles spanning research, strategy, clinical development and regulatory affairs within healthcare technology companies. His background includes work across medtech and healthtech environments, with a focus on translating complex clinical and imaging data into tools that can be applied in regulated trial settings.
Commenting on his appointment, Bishop said the company’s clinical impact was a key factor in his decision to take on the role. He said: “I first joined Qureight as it was clear that the potential impact of the platform, to support clinical trials and ultimately increase treatment options for patients, was huge.”
He added: “It has been a real pleasure to work with such a committed and knowledgeable team over the past 18 months, and I’m both delighted and excited to be moving into this new role.”
The leadership change comes as Qureight continues to position itself as a specialist partner for imaging-led clinical trials, supporting sponsors with study design, execution and data analysis in respiratory and cardiovascular disease.
