Bionyra Pharma has launched with a $165 million Series A financing to advance a pipeline of clinical and IND-stage biologics for inflammatory diseases.
Bionyra Pharma has emerged from stealth with a $165 million Series A financing round and a pipeline of clinical and investigational biologics targeting immune-mediated inflammatory diseases.
The financing was co-led by Jeito Capital and Sofinnova Partners, with participation from Arkin Bio, Sanofi Ventures, Sixty Degree Capital, Vives Partners and Apollo Health Ventures.
The Paris and Boston-based company was seed financed and co-founded by Sofinnova Partners alongside Frédéric Marrache, chief executive officer of Bionyra and a former immunology and inflammation development leader at Sanofi.
Bionyra is focused on developing next-generation antibody therapies for diseases including inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and atopic dermatitis, where many patients continue to experience inadequate disease control despite currently available treatments.
According to the company, more than half of patients with immune-mediated inflammatory diseases remain inadequately controlled with existing therapies.
The company launches with three lead programmes spanning clinical and IND-stage development.
Its most advanced candidate, BYN-002, is a TL1A monoclonal antibody engineered with half-life extension technology. The programme is being evaluated for IBD and other inflammatory indications, with a Phase 1 study in healthy volunteers now fully enrolled.
A second programme, BYN-003, is a bispecific antibody targeting TL1A and IL-23p19. The candidate entered the clinic earlier this year and is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1 trial.
Bionyra is also advancing BYN-001, an IL-25 monoclonal antibody designed for atopic dermatitis and Type 2 inflammatory diseases. The programme is currently at the investigational new drug stage.
Frédéric Marrache, co-founder and chief executive officer of Bionyra, said: “More than half of patients suffering from immune-mediated inflammatory diseases remain inadequately controlled, highlighting a significant need for better treatment options. Across our pipeline, we are selectively modulating immune pathways that are central drivers of disease in indications where current therapies remain insufficient.”
The company has licensed BYN-002 and BYN-003 from TrueLab Biopharmaceutical and BYN-001 from NovaRock Biotherapeutics, securing exclusive rights outside Greater China.
Mehdi Ainouche, partner at Jeito Capital, added: “Bionyra is uniquely positioned to accelerate delivery of highly promising therapies to patients through a focused and well-designed clinical development strategy aimed at rapidly generating clinical validation and addressing key unmet needs like deeper remission and alternatives for non-responders.”
The financing comes at a time when investor appetite for differentiated immunology assets remains strong, particularly programmes targeting inflammatory diseases with large patient populations and significant unmet need.
With two programmes already in clinical development and substantial funding secured, Bionyra plans to advance its antibody portfolio while continuing to expand its pipeline of inflammatory disease therapies.
