Cherwell introduces Redipor TwistLock plate range to aid microbial environmental monitoring

Cleanroom microbiology expert Cherwell, an Analytichem company, has launched a new range of plated prepared media designed to help protect samples, improve data integrity and aid automated workflows in microbial environmental monitoring (EM).

Redipor TwistLock plates feature a secure locking lid and side-label with a GS1 DataMatrix barcode, which, according to the company, enable enhanced contamination control, improved traceability and compliance with industry standards, including GMP Annex 1 and ICH Q9. The new locking plate format is a key addition alongside standard plate options within Cherwell’s Redipor range of prepared media.

The locking lid prevents contamination and helps protect sample integrity when transporting samples within and between facilities, while side-label barcoding assists data accuracy and automated colony counting, and allows for LIMS and electronic batch record integration. The plate’s user-friendly design is also said by the company to aid laboratory workflow, reducing the potential for human error and minimising the need for retesting.

Like standard Redipor prepared media, the TwistLock plates are available in Petri and contact plate formats. All are triple-wrapped, gamma-irradiated and shelf-stable for up to six months. Bespoke options can be manufactured upon request — reflecting a growing industry need for tailored media formulations, fill volumes and packaging formats.

As AnalytiChem’s UK prepared media manufacturing site, Cherwell says it is strengthening the security of its local supply for the pharmaceutical and medical manufacturing sectors. The company plans to produce Redipor TwistLock plates in the US and the Netherlands as well, adding further robustness to its global delivery capabilities.

“As a trusted supplier to the pharmaceutical and medical manufacturing industry, we’re always looking for ways to enable our customers to meet their operational and regulatory requirements, while reducing contamination risk and strengthening data integrity,” said Yoggya De Silva, microbiology product specialist at Cherwell.

“The launch of Redipor TwistLock prepared media is a direct reflection of those priorities.”
