BioAscent taps new VP of Alliance Management to drive global growth

BioAscent has appointed seasoned drug discovery executive Dr James Hitchin as its first-ever Vice President of Alliance Management, marking a major milestone as the company accelerates its global expansion and cross-functional integration.

With a PhD in synthetic chemistry from the University of Liverpool and a stellar track record in medicinal chemistry and strategic leadership, the company says that James is stepping into the newly created role with deep scientific and operational credentials. He most recently served as chief operating officer at Charnwood Discovery, where he scaled bioscience, chemistry, and ADME capabilities while growing high-performing teams across disciplines.

James also brings strong oncology drug discovery expertise from his time at Cancer Research UK’s Manchester Institute, where he led internal R&D projects as a principal chemist.

At BioAscent, he’ll focus on forging stronger internal collaboration, shaping strategic alliances with global clients, and strengthening BioAscent’s competitive edge as a trusted partner in drug discovery and compound management.

“I am thrilled to be joining BioAscent,” James said.

“Despite tough market conditions, the company’s growth and resilience speak volumes. I’m particularly excited by the scientific talent here – and the opportunity to build partnerships that accelerate innovation and ultimately improve patient outcomes.”

BioAscent’s chief commercial officer, Dr Mike Piper, said: “James is the perfect addition at a pivotal time for us. His ability to scale scientific operations, build lasting relationships, and lead teams with clarity and purpose will be key as we expand in the US and Europe.”
