eXmoor Pharma and Siam Bioscience partner to expand cell and gene therapy services in Southeast Asia

eXmoor Pharma and Siam Bioscience have announced a strategic partnership to build a cell and gene therapy (CGT) development and manufacturing centre in Bangkok, aiming to accelerate access to advanced therapies across Southeast Asia.

The collaboration will combine eXmoor’s consultancy and CDMO expertise with Siam Bioscience’s established regional presence. The new centre, based at Siam Bioscience’s manufacturing site near Bangkok, will offer consultancy, process and analytical development, and GMP clinical and commercial manufacturing.

Angela Osborne, executive chair of eXmoor Pharma, said the partnership was designed to “bring life-changing therapies to more patients, more quickly, and with the right infrastructure to support long-term success.” She added that Thailand and Southeast Asia are “rapidly emerging as hubs for cell and gene therapy innovation,” making regional collaboration critical.

For Siam Bioscience, the move will strengthen local R&D while aligning operations with international standards. Songpon Deechongkit, CEC at Siam Bioscience, said the new centre would support translational research and help position Thailand as “a medical hub for the ASEAN region.”

The partners said the centre will also serve as a platform to introduce international CGT programmes and technologies into the region. This could reduce logistic burdens, cut delays, and improve patient access to therapies that target serious conditions including cancer and genetic diseases.

Highlighting the company’s longer-term ambitions, Nualphan Lamsam, honorary corporate communications director of Siam Bioscience, said: “While Siam Bioscience has been manufacturing conventional biotech medicines for more than a decade, this collaboration takes us to the next frontier of innovation.” She added that the partnership will enable access to both broad and niche therapies for patients in Thailand and across the region.
