Inizio Evoke appoints Matthew Hoelzle as chief medical officer as Karsten Risch transitions to chair, medical strategy

Inizio Evoke has appointed Matthew Hoelzle (pictured) as chief medical officer, marking a new chapter for the company’s global medical leadership. He takes over from Karsten Risch, who will remain with the company as chair, medical strategy through 2025.

Hoelzle joined Inizio Evoke in 2016 and has since helped shape the organization’s medical strategy offering into a flexible, integrated model tailored to the needs of pharmaceutical and biotech clients. He has led medical strategy for high-science brands, particularly in oncology, and developed cross-functional solutions spanning healthcare professionals, patients, and corporate audiences.

“Matt is a brilliant scientific thinker and trusted partner to our clients,” said Cris Morton, group president at Inizio Evoke. “He brings a unique ability to translate complex science into impactful, insight-led strategy, always with a focus on what truly matters for healthcare providers, patients and brands.”

Before joining Inizio Evoke, Hoelzle held senior roles in medical education and publication strategy. In his new position, he will lead a globally respected medical strategy team known for its deep scientific expertise and integrated communications approach.

As chair, medical strategy, Risch will continue to advise on key client relationships and strategic initiatives. He has served as chief medical officer since 2019.

“Karsten has been a foundational leader for our medical practice,” said Reid Connolly, chief executive and founder of Inizio Evoke. “His scientific rigor, client insight and unwavering commitment to excellence have helped shape our success over the past six years.”

The company said the leadership evolution reflects its ongoing commitment to delivering medically grounded, human-centric communications that drive transformative growth across the health ecosystem.
