Klifo receives regulatory approval for new clinical trial supply facility in Copenhagen

KLIFO, Europe’s largest independent provider of clinical trial supply (CTS) packaging and distribution services, has received official Manufacturing and Importation Authorisation from the Danish Medicines Agency for its new 6,500 sqm Abildager facility in Copenhagen.

The approval marks a key step in KLIFO’s expansion and its commitment to delivering innovative and flexible CTS solutions for the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. The purpose-built site is designed to handle clinical trials ranging from small-scale studies through to global Phase 3 and post-marketing trials.

The facility offers comprehensive temperature management, including controlled room temperature through to -80°C for storage, primary and secondary packaging, and distribution. It also includes low-light capabilities to support light-sensitive products, addressing a wide range of clinical supply chain requirements.

René Pedersen, CEO, KLIFO, said: “Approval of our new facility represents a major step forward for KLIFO, and the site has already attracted significant interest from Nordic and international clients, reinforcing Copenhagen’s position as a leading life science hub in Europe. We can now offer even greater capacity to meet complex clinical trial supply chain needs globally while maintaining our focus on quality, compliance, and flexibility.”

The new facility, combined with KLIFO’s experienced team, growing international reach, and adherence to global regulatory requirements, allows the company to accelerate project setup, reduce turnaround times, and minimise supply chain challenges for sponsors and partners.

The Danish site adds to KLIFO’s international network of CTS capabilities, supporting clients with high-quality, scalable solutions while maintaining strict compliance standards. The company’s flexible approach ensures that trial sponsors can efficiently manage complex clinical supply demands across multiple geographies.

This development strengthens KLIFO’s position as a key partner in Europe for clinical trial supply and highlights Copenhagen’s continued growth as a life sciences hub.
